The Board of Assessors consists of three members, each serving for a three year term. They are responsible for working with the Town's Chief Assessor in carrying out the state's requirements which establishes fair market value of real and personal property for tax purposes and many other assessing requirements.
The Board must follow state laws and guidelines. Board members must obtain state certification from the Department of Revenue for the purpose of voting authority as a member of the Board. The Board meets when necessary which is usually six to seven times a year.
