Kayak Rental Station at Ice House Landing

OPEN FRIDAY, JUNE 6, 2025!

Ice House Landing is a public park and kayak launch on the Assabet River. The park features picnic tables, a small trail and an EZ launch, which is a type of kayak launch that allows for easier access to the water.

Kayak Rental Station

The Kayak rental station is a self-serve station leased by the Conservation Commission for public use. Rent.Fun is the third party vendor used to provide this amenity. There are 8 sit on-top kayaks and each comes with paddles and life jackets. The price is $25 for 2 hours and 60% of profits will go back to the Maynard Conservation Fund. Tips for a successful kayaking experience:

  1. DO NOT LOSE OR DROP YOUR PHONE! Please be mindful of your phone and ensure it is secured in a portable phone holder or place in the dry bag provided. 
  2. Always check the app to see how many kayaks are available. This is first come, first serve.
  3. Ensure you lock the door before setting off on your rental. When you arrive back, use your app to unlock the locker, put the kayak back and close the locker door until you feel it lock. (You may have to really slam it shut) Once the kayak is locked and secured, then end the rental on the app.
  4. We recommend having towel, sunscreen and bug spray for a more pleasant paddle.
  5. Ice House Landing does not have bathrooms or changing facilities or personal lockers, do not lock any valuables in the kayak locker.
  6. Please carry in and out all trash from the area.
