2026 Dog Licenses are now available!Mags

Massachusetts General Law and Maynard By-laws requires all dogs over 6 months of age to be licensed annually. An up-to-date rabies certificate must be on file before a license can be issued. The licensing period is January 1 through December 31, and licenses are due by February 28th.

Please be on the lookout for the annual Census coming in January. Did you know you can register your dog(s) using the application on the back of the census form? Completed applications can be returned by mail (please include a self-addressed stamped envelope) or in person to the Town Clerk's office.

Any new dog to Town or recently acquired dog must be licensed within 30 days.


Registering Your Dog

Licenses can be completed online, by mail, or in person at the Town Clerk's office.

Fees

Spayed/Neutered     $10.00
Intact/Unaltered        $15.00
Seniors/70+              No Fee

Late Fees

Anyone who fails to license their dog(s) by February 28th of each year shall be required to pay a late fee of $25.00 for each unlicensed dog. This fee is not subject to waiver.

Residents over 70 Years of Age

Please note that at the October 3, 2020, Special Town Meeting the voters of Maynard accepted the provisions of Mass General Law Chapter 140, Section 139, which allow the Town to issue dog licenses free of charge to residents over 70 years of age. The application process is the same for residents. Dogs must be up to date on their rabies vaccinations and the rabies certificate must be on file in the Town Clerk’s office.
